May 2, 2017 – Ephesians 5:5-7

Reading: Ephesians 5:5-7 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Questions for observation and application:

Who is it that will not inherit the kingdom of God?

What two direct commands are given in Ephesians 5:6-7?

In 1 Corinthians 6:11, what now sets believers apart?

Paul continues to exhort believers to act in a way that fits with their new identity in Christ. Some were being deceived and led into sin. Paul reminds them that this sort of disobedience is the reason for God’s righteousness judgment. When Paul states “do not be partners with them” he is not advocating complete removal from the world, but avoidance of the sort of close entanglements which would lead to sin.

Pray: Ask the Lord to help you discern those relationships which give you an opportunity to show Christ to those who need it, and those which may lead you into sin. Thank God that He has washed, sanctified, and justified you apart from any merit on your part.
