Reading: Ephesians 4:17-19
Questions for observation and application:
What command does Paul give?
What about the way of life of the Gentiles is to be avoided?
How is the condition of their minds, hearts, and actions related?
There is a progression to the sin of the Gentiles. Their hearts are hardened which leads them to ignorance, futility, and a darkened understanding. The result of this is that they lost sensitivity (to evil) and therefore gave themselves over to sensuality, impurity, and greed. Sin naturally progresses – or regresses – to more and more outward depravity. But the root of sin is a hardened heart.
Pray: Ask the Lord to soften your heart, renew your mind, and make you sensitive to evil in your life. Repent, if you need to, of impurity and greed.
