April 13, 2017 – Ephesians 4:14-16

Reading: Ephesians 4:14-16

Questions for observation and application:

How is the church described before spiritual maturity (v14)?

What does the church become? How?

How is the body related to Jesus?

Much of Ephesians is about personal spiritual growth, but in this passage, it is the body of believers which is becoming mature, well-connected, and built up. This happens through the God’s people, each doing their own part, speaking to one another with truth and love. Such a church is stable and able to resist the daily push and pull of false teaching.

Truth and love need to be spoken together but they are often seen as standing in tension and, in practice, can feel hard to balance. Which virtue are you stronger at and which are you weaker at? How can you work on your weaker one this week?
