April 12, 2017 – Ephesians 4:11-13

Reading: Ephesians 4:11-13

Questions for observation and application:

What, or rather Who, does Christ give (v11)?

What are the purposes of these gifts and are are those purposes related (v12-13)?

What separates this “gift list” from others (see Romans 12:3-8, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, and 1 Corinthians 12:27-31) is that its gifts seem to be concentrated on certain leadership type positions, or “offices.” But that does not mean that people who do not have those particular gifts are not in mind. Indeed, the purpose of Christ giving those gifts is to equip God’s people, the whole congregation, for works of service. The service of the congregation is what builds up the body and contributes to its overall maturity, unity, and knowledge.

How have you been built up and equipped by church leaders throughout your life?

How have you used that equipping to serve others?
