March 14, 2017 – Ephesians 1:7-8a

Reading: Ephesians 1:3-10, focus on verses 7-8a, Romans 3:21-26

Questions for observation and application:

What are the “spiritual blessings” described in verse 7?

How does God give us these blessings? (note phrases like “through…” and “in accordance with…”)

What are the connecting words and phrases between Romans 3:21-26 and Ephesians 1:7?

Two elements of salvation are evident in this verse: redemption and forgiveness of sins. Both are given in abundance, “in accordance with the riches of God’s grace, that he lavished 0n us.” Our God is not stingy. He is a generous Father. Both redemption (buying us back from slavery, paying off our debt) and forgiveness were costly for God. The debt was great and it was payed by the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross.

Praise God that the riches of God’s grace was a enough to cover over the cost of our sin. Praise God for the sacrifice of our sin.
