March 6, 2017 – Ephesians 1:1-2

Reading: Ephesians 1:1-2

Questions for observation and application:

How does Paul describe himself?

To whom is this book written? How does Paul describe them?

What greeting does Paul extend to his audience?

Throughout the letter, Paul will be instructing the Ephesians on how to live holy and faithful lives (especially in chapters 4-6) but already in verse 1 he describes his audience as those who are “God’s holy people” and “faithful in Christ Jesus.” Paul’s exhortation on how the believers should live is based on who they are. If you’re a believer, reflect on your identity as a member of “God’s holy people” and as a person who is “in Christ.”

How does your knowledge of your identity impact the way you will live today?

Bonus Reading: Psalm 119:1-8
